When considering a blog that I would possibly create in the future, I know I would have to choose a passion of mine to write about. Creating a successful blog with new and exciting content seems like a lot of work and dedication and I would need to write about a topic that will always get me excited to continue writing about. Therefore, my topic should be the motivating factor to keep myself accountable to create better content each time I post something new. So, with all that being said, after considering multiple topics, I believe an exciting topic not only for myself but for a wide variety of audiences would be a food blog. In this blog post, I will be sharing with you a little insight to what information I would write about in a food blog that I would consider potentially creating in the future.

Eating is hands down my favourite thing to do and finding new places to eat is such a fun pastime of mine. Friends and family are always asking me “what the best restaurant in blah is” or “where can I find the best blah”, and I am always ready with loads of great suggestions. Also, the main reason I have Instagram is to follow restaurants and other food blogs so I am always doing my own research on the hot new food places to go. I think I would have so much fun creating a blog that will be where anyone can come and read reviews and my thoughts on the best places to eat and why. It will be similar to shows on the Food Channel like “You Gotta Eat Here” or “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives”.
This blog will be meant for a few different audiences. I want this blog to be a go-to suggestion portal for adventurous food people who are trying to find new places to eat from a reviewer they can trust. It will be a visually stimulating blog with very personal and truthful reviews about the foods that I will be trying. I also think this blog will be a great tool for people who are trying to become more adventurous when it comes to food. I understand how our food preferences are based on how we grew up and how it can often be intimidating to start trying new things. I want this blog to be a safe and reliable source to help people feel comfortable to start diving into new foods.

I will also showcase and talk about a wide variety of foods, cultures, diets and destinations as well, so everyone can find foods that they are able to eat. I don’t want to only be a vegan restaurant review blog or an ice cream review blog, I want to review every kind of food I can! Because I live in B.C. and in Ontario, I will also be able to talk about foods from both of my homes. And when travelling I will also review places wherever I go. I’m so fascinated by how culture affects food and I think incorporating that into this blog will also help people be able to understand food more. It will be a learning journey for both myself and my audience. -Photo by Creatv Eight on Unsplash

As an audience member to this blog, I want each person to benefit from reading my reviews. With social media becoming as big as it has, it’s really easy to catch yourself comparing your life to the life social media influencers look like they have. I follow many food bloggers and to me it looks like they have the best lives. It seems like all they do is go to trendy food places and eat these artistic looking dishes. This will definitely be an obstacle that I will face if I start this blog. I don’t ever want to sound like I’m bragging about the places I eat at. I know it can be easy to find these kinds of blogs annoying when it seems like all the bloggers are doing is taking pictures of and talking about food. While reading my blog, I want my audience to feel inspired by my reviews and posts. I want to highlight the importance of how food can help you learn more about different cultures and also maybe help you become a more adventurous person.

I like your blog’s topic. I think this topic is easy to write compared to other topics since you can write many things. Ideas of writing about good restaurants is really cool. I always have trouble to find places when I want to eat out. I have a small suggestion. You can consider narrowing down to a region you want to blog. It can help you get solid audiences and build up your credibility as you only write in one region.

I think that’s a great suggestion! I was debating whether I should keep it to one region or not so thank you!

Hi Emilie, I really enjoyed reading your future blog idea and I think food is a super relatable topic that most people would be interested in reading about. In terms of visuals, I think the photos you used were very appropriate for the blog post. An area to improve the visuals is maybe to add captions to them, just because I would interested in knowing where that sandwich from the third picture is from!
